Building Telecommunication Systems: What You Need to Know

What Are the Issues?

Tenants, the public and building personnel have concerns about Radio Frequency (RF) Radiation. The FCC and OSHA have begun to take a more active position on RF safety. Solution: Satisfy both concerns

What Are the Affects of RF Emissions on the Human Body

  • EME is electromagnetic energy in radio frequency

  • It causes tissue heating and can lead to serious internal and external burn injuries

  • Tissue damage can occur creating damage to sensitive frontal organs, pace maker interference and eyes

  • Everyone is not affected equally – there are ten times faster RF energy absorption rate for those who are not in good physical condition

  • The most problematic and dangerous frequency ranges for humans are from 30MHz to 300MHz, which is the human resonance range

  • At very high frequencies above ultra violet light, enough energy is generated to tear electrons from their atoms creating ions. This can cause permanent biological changes to the molecular structure of cells

  • The process of ionization begins to occur at a frequency of 1017 Hertz or translated, this is a billion Gigahertz

  • The highest frequencies used in communications today are approximately 100GHz orders of magnitude below the ionization level

  • Is it clear that the communications industry does not generate ionizing energy
